McNeese Review submissions for volume 61, 2024, are now closed. Submissions of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for volume 62, 2025, print issue will open from June 1st-August 31st, 2024. 

Submitting to Boudin

Boudin pet/animal contest submissions (open until March 25th)

Celebrate your pet and submit to our animal rescue fundraiser/prize issue! Submit your pet-related fiction, poetry, and CNF of any length, and $5 minimum donation, via Submittable.  Please submit only one work of fiction or CNF, or three poems/three pieces of microfiction (<250 words). 

The contest’s final portion of this issue will be judged by Ken Foster. All reading for the prize issue will be blind and the top ten submissions will be published. The first-place winner will receive $50 and be placed first in the issue.  

The ten contest winners will be published alongside exciting new pet-related work by writers Steve Almond, Tim Bass, Randall Brown, Alexa Doran, Len Kuntz, Meg Pokrass, Nicole Monaghan, Robert Hamblin,Tiff Holland, and Dawn Sperber, with art by Digby Beaumont.  

Each contributor whose work is chosen for this issue will be given a dedication page to preface their work, in which they can provide images/words of acknowledgment for their past/present pet(s). 

$5 submission fee (all proceeds will benefit the Do Good Dog Rescue and Hobo Hotel Cat Rescue of Lake Charles, LA).

No material published in Boudin may be reprinted or reproduced, in whole or in part, without the permission of the authors. We ask for ourselves only that Boudin be credited with first publication. Unfortunately, we are not a paying market; contributors to Boudin will receive our thanks and the promise that we’ll promote your work.

We encourage you to simultaneously submit your work while it’s under consideration at Boudin. If your submission is accepted by another publication, please email boudin@mcneese.edu to withdraw your work.

Please only submit original work. If your work borrows from or quotes another writer, please make explicit mention of this with your submission, giving full attribution to any material you’re using from another source.

In all genres, we are particularly interested in seeing work from women, people of color, LGBTQ writers, non-binary writers, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups.

OVERALL NOTES:

Please note that we do not accept multiple submissions from the same writer within a reading period. Multiple submissions will be rejected immediately unless our editors have specifically requested that the writer submit again.

No material published in The McNeese Review or in Boudin may be reprinted or reproduced, in whole or in part, without the permission of the authors. We ask for ourselves only that The McNeese Review be credited with first publication. All print contributors receive one contributor copy. We are pleased to also offer a $50 honorarium to print contributors within the U.S. Contributors outside of the U.S. will receive two additional author copies in lieu of the honorarium.
